Bring your drawings or your contractor's quote, and get an honest opinion before you commit.
Book my slot →You are about to spend the largest amount of your life on one project. You will approve drawings you cannot fully read, accept material you cannot test, and pay bills you cannot verify. And most mistakes in construction cannot be corrected after the concrete has set. I am an independent civil engineer with 35 years of experience, and I work only for you — never for the contractor.
No obligation. If your project does not need me, I will tell you that on the call.
These are the standards I bring to a single private home.
None of these happen on day one. They build up slowly, and by the time they become visible, the money is already spent.
The quote said one number. Every month a new "extra" appears, each one small, none of them refusable.
Confident on day one. Difficult to reach by month four.
Plaster cracks, tiles lift, slopes send water the wrong way. All of it redone at your cost.
Rent continues, EMI continues, and your possession date keeps moving.
Steel grade, cement ratio, curing time, cover blocks. None of it is visible in a photograph from the site.
You pay for one brand and one grade. What reaches the site can be a different thing.
Architect blames contractor, contractor blames drawing, and you sit in the middle deciding.
Seepage, settlement, cracks. The contractor has finished and gone.
Payments demanded early, work completed late.
Calls at 7 am about sand. This was supposed to be a happy year.
Twenty minutes. No obligation.
Rework, disputes, and a half-finished site. The single most expensive decision in the entire project.
Every unclear clause becomes a bill later. Nobody argues about a written scope. Everybody argues about a verbal one.
A defect caught at plinth level is a small correction. The same defect found at finishing stage means breaking finished work.
And everything about the process is new to you.
You cannot stand at the site every day, and you should not have to.
They are so different from each other that comparing them is guesswork.
Someone else is watching your site for you, and you have no way to verify it.
Something feels wrong, but you cannot say exactly what.
Before signing a contract worth lakhs.
A good contractor is not your enemy. But he cannot be your checker and your builder at the same time. That is the whole reason this role exists on every large project — and almost never on a private house.
Five stages. In this order. Most homes go wrong because stage one is skipped and work starts on a drawing that was never checked.
Before a single brick.
I review your drawings, specifications and BOQ, check whether the design matches your budget, and identify what is missing before it becomes an extra bill.
You receiveA written review report with the gaps, the risks, and a realistic budget range. The most expensive decision of the project.
I compare contractor quotes line by line, check what each one has excluded, verify credentials and past work, and go through the contract terms with you.
You receiveA like-for-like comparison sheet and a list of clauses to add before you sign.Checking what cannot be seen later.
Stage-wise site visits at the points that matter — foundation, plinth, slab, brickwork, plumbing before concealing, waterproofing, finishing. Material checks, mix checks, steel checks, curing checks.
You receiveA stage report with photographs, findings and a clear list of what must be corrected.Money and time, written down.
Progress against schedule, bills against actual work done, and every change recorded in writing so nobody can rewrite the history at the end.
You receiveA monthly progress and cost note you can actually understand. The last chance to get things fixed.
A full defect and snag inspection before the final payment, plus a check of the completion documents, warranties and as-built drawings.
You receiveA snag list tied to the final payment, so corrections happen while you still have leverage. For owners who have not started yet.

Choosing the contractor with the lowest quote
Starting construction before the planning is complete
Having no written contract, or a one-page one
Looking at the first cost instead of the 30-year cost
Delaying quality checks until something looks wrong
Agreeing to changes verbally, on site
Calling an engineer only after the problem has appeared
Assuming that experience automatically means quality
Not reading what the contract has excluded
Reacting to problems instead of preventing them
Nine of these ten cost nothing to avoid. They only cost something to fix.
“My contractor already handles all this.
He does — and he is also the person being checked. On every large project in this country, the builder and the checker are two different people. That is not a lack of trust. It is basic structure. A good contractor usually welcomes an engineer who is competent, because it also protects him from unfair blame later.
“I have built before, I know the process.
Then you already know where it usually goes wrong, which puts you ahead of most people. My role there is narrower — reviewing the contract, checking critical stages, and being a second opinion at the expensive decisions. Tell me on the call and I will suggest the smallest package that actually helps you.
“Your fee feels like an extra cost.
That is a fair concern, so judge it against the right thing. Compare it with one round of rework on a slab, one month of delay while you pay rent and EMI, or one contract clause that was missing. If your project genuinely does not need supervision, I will say so on the call rather than sell you a package.
“I will call you if a problem comes up.
You can, and people do. But by then the concrete has set, the wall is plastered, and the plumbing is concealed. Almost everything I catch early is cheap to correct. Almost nothing I am called in for late is cheap to correct.
“How do I know this will actually save me money?
I will not give you a percentage figure, because anyone who does is guessing. What I will give you is a written record of what was checked, what was found, and what was corrected. Then you can judge the value yourself, with evidence.
“I already have an architect.
An architect designs. Construction supervision, material verification, bill checking and stage-wise quality audit are a different job, and most architects do not offer daily site engineering. The two roles work together well. I am not a replacement for your architect.
I am not going to fill this page with quotes that I cannot prove. I am collecting client experiences properly — with written permission, full names, real project details, and the honest parts kept in as well.
Until then, book a free call and judge my advice directly. For an engineer, that is a fairer test than any quote on a website.

I am [YOUR NAME], a civil engineer with over 35 years of experience. I have worked on army residential projects, university construction, and high-rise residential development in Gurgaon — projects where quality checks were documented, materials were tested, and nobody signed off on their own work.
Then I watched friends and relatives build their own homes with none of that. No independent checking, no written scope, and no way of knowing whether what they paid for was what they received.
Twenty minutes on a call. Bring your drawings, your quote, or just your questions. If your project does not need me, I will tell you that too.
I help first-time home builders construct their home with expert engineering guidance — protecting quality, timeline and budget, without depending only on the contractor.

Then I watched friends and relatives build their own homes with none of that. No independent checking, no written scope, and no way of knowing whether what they paid for was what they received. In one case, a problem that would have cost [₹ AMOUNT] to fix at foundation stage cost [₹ AMOUNT] to repair two years later.
So I now do one thing: I stand on the owner's side of the table.
I do not take commission from contractors, vendors or suppliers. I do not have a construction company of my own. My only income is my fee from you, which is exactly why my advice can be independent.
